LEAP into Summer

Summer 2007 LEAP into Summer Camp

LEAP Into Summer Camp is a five day interactive nutrition education and swim day camp for children ages 6-13. The camp aims to help kids develop healthy lifelong eating and activity patterns. Each day starts with nutrition education and activities followed by a walk from the OPT office to Shapiro Pool. Nutrition education topics include balanced meals, soda and sweetened beverages, the importance of water, fat and fast food, fiber and whole grains, portion sizes, and ways to increase physical activity. As an incentive to increase physical activity, pedometers are provided. Campers also receive T-shirts, water bottles, and lunch totes for participating in the program. At the end of the week campers get a 6 day swimming pass to Shapiro Pool.

Campers arrive at 12:00 noon and are picked up at 4:00 pm. They should bring a sack lunch, water, bathing suit, towel, walking shoes, and sunscreen. Camps will run twice this summer: June 25th – 29th and August 6th – 10th.

For more information or to make reservations call the OPT office at 345-0678.
